Free outdoor educational adventures from Aberdeenshire Council’s Ranger Service

Aberdeenshire Council’s Ranger Service is inviting families and curious minds of all ages to enjoy dozens of free outdoor educational activities. 

Across the spring and into the summer, family-friendly activities have been arranged throughout Aberdeenshire to learn about nature conservation, explore scenic trails, discover diverse flora and fauna, observe the natural behaviours and habitats of wildlife, and spark curiosity and interest in the outdoors.

Councillor Alan Turner, Chair of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee (ISC), said: “In Aberdeenshire, we’re very fortunate to have such a rich natural heritage to explore, filled with all sorts of wildlife and wonders. The Ranger Service has put together a fantastic lineup that will encourage people to get outdoors, connect with nature, and learn something new.” 

ISC vice chair Councillor Isobel Davidson said: “While the Ranger Service hosts events in every season, there is a fantastic opportunity here for families to have fun and factual adventures when the schools go on break. Our rangers will share their expertise and love for nature while hopefully creating some lasting memories for families across Aberdeenshire by enjoying the outdoors together.” 

Aberdeenshire Council has a team of six rangers based across the region to help residents and visitors discover and enjoy Aberdeenshire’s rich natural and cultural heritage. 

The rangers work across Aberdeenshire to protect and promote our biodiversity. The team also provides opportunities for residents and visitors to benefit from our connection with nature through sessions for the public, school groups, and promotion of responsible countryside access.
