Nursery meals
Nursery menus have been created with our pupils in mind, to help our youngest customers to develop a good relationship with food and educate them about where food comes from.
All our nursery menus are created inline with national standards and guidelines such as:
- Healthy Snack Scheme
- Setting the Table
- Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in schools (Scotland) Regulations

Our nursery pupils are offered a morning and afternoon snack, of fruits and/or vegetables served with milk.
The lunch time meal consists of:
- Two-course hot meal
- Two portions of vegetables
- Daily offering of fresh fruit
- Freely available water
Home baking is reduced to three times a week to encourage the children to choose a healthier pudding alternative, and reduce their intake of free sugars.
Nurseries who are open 8am to 6pm get a light high tea provision of soup and sandwich. This also includes two portions of fruit and/or vegetables, with freely available water.
All our meal services, give children the opportunity to have a home cooked meal, at a table setting, while they are learning:
- To take part in a social dining experience
- Positive social skills, behaviours, and table manners
- How to share food and use cutlery properly
- To taste different foods, as they are often keener to try something new in a group setting with other children present
