Locality Plans and Profiles
Health and Social Care Partnerships across Scotland are required by the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 to define their localities. These aren't hard lines on a map, but represent natural communities and delivery of local Health and Social Care Services.
There are six localities in Aberdeenshire:
- Banff and Buchan
- Kincardine and Mearns
Locality plans provide a framework for how Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) intends to improve health and well-being. Each plan adopts a ground level approach, empowering the residents and those working in the locality to play an active part in identifying the local priorities. The plans make sure local needs are being supported.
We have gathered information about what matters to the people of each locality through engagement and consultation activities across Aberdeenshire. This information was carefully considered by key stakeholders who jointly identified the initial priorities for each locality plan. Stakeholders are people or groups who have an interest in what we do and who are affected by our decisions and actions.
We have produced five locality plans. These plans look at and prioritise the needs of the local population. They outline areas for action for each locality and support the AHSCP strategic plan. They cover the period from 2018 to 2021. These locality plans will help develop our next strategic plan for 2019 to 2022. Making sure local needs are included.

Locality profiles give a demographic, public health and inequalities overview for each of the six localities. These profiles are used to help Health and Social Care service planning decisions in Aberdeenshire local communities. Our Locality Planning Groups use them along with other information, such as strategic needs assessments and performance information.

Consultation and engagement
We will continue to consult and engage with people living and working in each locality. We encourage feedback and comments on the locality plans. The information provided will be used to support the delivery of the current plans and to develop the next locality plans.
