Support for adults with a learning disability

Aberdeenshire Day Opportunities

Aberdeenshire Day Opportunities offers a range of day support to adults with a learning disability, who live in Aberdeenshire and are eligible for social care services. We offer you day support at home, in the community, in a building-based location or a combination of all to help you be as independent as possible.

We do this by:

  • providing knowledge
  • training
  • improving skills
  • building confidence

Where possible this means moving on to:

  • local community-based opportunities
  • employment
  • further education
  • volunteering
  • accessing social groups near you

For those with profound and multiple disabilities as well as more complex social needs, our building-based Day Opportunities offers help with everyday skills, mobility support, sensory experiences, leisure activities and personalised support.

Each Day Opportunities offers something different that might not be available at the others. Details of the specific support each Day Opportunities provides is on their individual pages.

Closures

Day Opportunities are closed to everyone for holidays for a week at Easter, a week in October, and two weeks over the festive period in December.

We also close for four days during the year for staff training.

Sometimes we may have to close building-based locations that support Day Opportunities at short notice, usually because of adverse weather. Closures are announced on our day service base closures page.

Regulation

Our Day Opportunities are assessed and graded by the Care Inspectorate for the quality of service we provide.

Our staff are Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registered.
