Support for adults with a learning disability

Activities at Aberdeenshire Day Opportunities

Our Day Opportunities offer a person-centred programme of activities, tailored to meet individual needs and choices.

Our staff use various communication systems to support people who have limited or no verbal communication or a hearing impairment. To make sure we get it right for you, we work closely with health care and social work teams.

All our activities are focused on what you want to achieve. They promote:

  • wellbeing
  • choice
  • mobility
  • fitness
  • relationships
  • self-advocacy
  • confidence building
  • social skills
  • empowerment

Courses

We can access a wide range of courses which have been specifically designed for adults with learning disabilities. They promote independence and build links in the community.

ASDAN

You can complete an ASDAN in a subject relevant to any groups you are a member of. ASDAN is a curriculum development organisation and awarding body, providing a wide range of courses that develop skills for learning, employability, health, and wellbeing and for independent living.

There are certain tasks or activities you need to do. You get a certificate once the course is completed. By taking part you can get a sense of achievement, build your self-esteem, confidence and self-worth.

ASDAN is available at Banff Day Opportunities and Buchan Day Opportunities.
