Advocacy services

Advocacy services help people take more control of their lives by making sure they have the right, and opportunity, to contribute to the discussions and decisions about the services and treatment they get. The main aim of advocacy is to support people to express their needs and views effectively to the people involved in their care and in dealings with health and social work services.

Advocacy lets you make informed choices about, and remain in control of, your own care.

Advocacy North East provides independent advocacy in Aberdeenshire to adult users of Health and Social Care services.

VoiceAbility provides free independent advocacy support to help understand and access Social Security Scotland benefits. This support is for people who identify as disabled; are accessing benefits for a disabled child or who are disabled and need help to access benefits for their child. They also provide group advocacy in the community and online.
