Our care homes

Our care homes provide round the clock care and support from trained staff. They provide nursing care through the district nurse team when needed. Edenholme and Bennachie View have an in-house nurse team providing 24/7 nursing cover.

We have seven council owned care homes across Aberdeenshire:

Respite

Care homes can also offer respite. This is when a room in a care home is made available for people to book for short periods of time. Respite allows carers to have a break from their caring role, while the person they care for is looked after in a safe environment. These breaks allow carers to take some time to themselves, can help them care for longer and lets the cared for person stay at home for longer.

Care management

If you think you, or the person you care for, may need to move into a care home contact our Social Care teams.

You'll be assessed by care managers to decide what level of care you need. This is done with yourself and your carer. The aim is to allow you to live as normal a life as possible at home or in a homely environment in the local community, like a care home. The right amount of care and support will be given so you can be as independent as possible.

Independent sector care homes

Your care manager can also commission care from an independent care provider. The care home must be registered with the Care Inspectorate. This option will be discussed with you, and your carer, at your assessment.
