Community Learning Disability Service

Our Community Learning Disability Service helps people with learning disabilities and complex needs to cope independently, understand information and learn new skills.

We have three Community Learning Disability Teams providing support to adults with a learning disability, their families and carers. The teams cover North, South and Central Aberdeenshire and are made up of health and social care staff. By using an integrated approach they can provide the best service to suit your needs.

This may include help and support with:

  • personal care
  • accommodation
  • domestic tasks
  • skill development
  • day services
  • training or work opportunities
  • respite
  • shopping
  • budgeting
  • social activities

More specialist help is also available depending on your needs. It may include:

  • psychological support
  • dietary and health advice
  • mobility support
  • speech and language therapy

Referral to the service

We have an open referral system for the Community Learning Disability Service. Referrals can be made by individuals, carers, family members, GPs and other involved parties.

The person referred must meet our eligibility criteria for Social Work services and have a learning disability.

Each team has a leaflet which explains the services they provide and includes their contact details. To make a referral, please contact the Community Learning Disability Team for your area.
