Disruptions to bin collections

Occasionally, bin collections are missed for a variety of reasons including weather conditions, road closures, or vehicles being in for maintenance and repair.

What to do if we missed your bin

If your bin was missed please leave it out in the first instance. 

If the missed collection is listed on this page, you don't need to report it. If it isn't listed, before reporting a missed bin please make sure that: 

  • You presented your bin by 7am
  • The bin was not collected by 4.45pm
  • The bin was not tagged

If you find yourself accumulating additional household recycling and waste, please remember you can take it to a recycling centre.

When we will collect

Where we don't otherwise indicate on this page, if we don't collect your bin within five days, we will collect excess on the next scheduled collection day for that same bin, unless it was originally tagged or not presented.

Recently missed bins

3rd September 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins from these areas:

  • Craigievar area on A980
  • Craigievar Castle and all properties on the access road
  • Ellon, we will return on Friday 4th September:
    • Park Terrace
    • Ythan Place
  • Kirkton of Tough through Tillyfpour to Craigievar
  • Muggarthaugh to Kirkton of Tough

2nd September 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins from the following areas, we hope to return by Friday 4th September:

  • Newtonhill
  • Portlethen
  • Stonehaven (A90 northbound and southbound)

1st September 2026
