Banff and Macduff town centres funding

Grants between £500 and £5,000 are available to help support and develop the town centres of Banff and Macduff. The scheme is funded by the Local Innovation Fund from the Banff and Macduff Development Partnerships with £30,000 allocated for this funding.

Eligibility

To be eligible your organisation must be either a:

  • community group
  • school group
  • business
  • charitable organisation
  • community council
  • social enterprise

Un-constituted groups or those without a bank account can also apply if their application is supported by an appropriately constituted group.

What you need to provide

Along with a completed application form, applicant organisations need to provide:

  • A copy of your governing document (if you are an un-constituted group, the constitution or governing document of the organisation that will hold the funds must be provided)
  • A copy of your most recent annual accounts and bank statement (if you are an un-constituted group, the accounts and bank statement must be from the organisation that will hold the funds)
  • Any additional documents that are required (for example, this might include a partnership agreement if one is required)

We might ask for additional supporting evidence. The organisation can also provide any additional files they wish to support their application.

What happens after application

All applications will be assessed and verified against the grant criteria by Aberdeenshire Council.

If your application is successful, a formal letter by email will be sent to you and your project application, as part of the participatory budgeting process, will be put forward to a public vote to decide how the grant funds are allocated. This letter will confirm any specific conditions attached to your award.

Conditions of getting the grant

Organisations will be required to report back on progress. They will be contacted to provide a project evaluation report by 31st October 2024. The report will provide a summary of the project delivered and the outcomes achieved.

Aberdeenshire Council reserve the right to publicise the scheme's support offered to your business. However, we will contact you in advance of any releases.

50% of the grant fund will be paid on acceptance of the grant offer, with the remaining 50% paid upon receipt of evidence of spend of the first 50%. Evidence of spend for the whole grant is required through provision of copies of invoices, receipts or proof of spend, that is bank statements.

All funds will be committed by the end of March 2023 with spend complete by 27th September 2024, with an end of project evaluation report completed by 28th October 2024.

The grant must be used for intended outlined business purposes otherwise the council has the right to reclaim the grant.
